Skywatch Together: Overnight Stargazing near Bengaluru
Recurring event
Bangalore Astronomy Club runs Skywatch Together, an overnight stargazing programme at dark-sky sites outside Bengaluru. Dates and venue vary per edition — check the club's events page before planning. Sessions are open to all and suit families with children from around age five. What a session is like. Sessions usually begin in the early afternoon and run through to the following morning. The club sets up telescopes for solar observing while it is still light, then turns to planets, the Moon, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies once it is dark. Between the two there is generally an astronomy talk and a quiz pitched at both children and adults, and the evening tends to include a bonfire. Mornings bring an early observing session before sunrise, followed by a walk or short trek. Stay and meals. The package normally covers meals and an overnight stay, with accommodation ranging from rooms and cottages to a dormitory depending on what you book. Booking. Pre-booking with full payment is required, and pricing is published with each edition rather than fixed — confirm both the cost and the venue when you book.
